The Concept of Sex

  • Definition: Sex is a biological and innate part of a person, present from birth.
  • Purpose: It is related to reproduction and the ability to experience sexual acts.
  • Role in Development: It is an integral part of a person's physical and mental growth.
  • Privacy: It is also a private and personal matter.

​Primary and Secondary Sex Characteristics 

​You explained that sex characteristics can be divided into two main categories:

1. Primary Sex Characteristics : These are the original parts that exist from birth. They are further divided into:

* Visible Parts : Features you can see on the body, such as breasts, hips, and male/female/intersex genitalia.

* Invisible Parts : Internal parts that are not visible, like hormones, the uterus and related components, testes and related components, and sexual feelings.

2. Secondary Sex Characteristics : These are characteristics that develop based on the primary ones. They include:

* Body hair (private hair)

* Changes in voice

* Physical and mental growth

* Sexual thoughts and feelings

* The ability to reproduce and engage in sexual activities

​Physical and Mental Aspects of Sex 

​You also differentiated between two types of sex from a psychological and physical perspective:

  • Physical Sex : This refers to all the visible and invisible biological characteristics a person has.
  • Mental Sex : This is based on a person's feelings and thoughts, which are formed from their physical sex characteristics.
